RELEASE
Wantage Town F.C. Team Management Season 2008 / 2009.
Wantage
Town F.C. are pleased to be able to announce that
their first team management pairing of Manager Richie
Bourne and Assistant Manager and Coach Andy Wallbridge
have been appointed for next season 2008 / 2009. This
young and emerging management duo have shown great
potential this season, slowly but surely developing
a squad that, with a little more consistency and discipline,
will challenge for a top six placing next season in
the Sport Italia Hellenic Premier League.
Wantage Town is also pleased to be able to announce
that Peter Hogan, who came in during this season and
stabilised the management of the Reserve Team squad,
is to continue to develop Reserve Football at Wantage
Town next season.
Underpinning this development will be the expanding
Youth Football policy of the Club under the guidance
of Director of Youth Football Roger Goodchild. The
Club will run an Under 18 Youth team and an Under
16 Youth Team in the Oxfordshire Invitation Youth
League. The Under 18 squad will be managed by Sonia
Hart. Wantage Town welcomes Gary Stone to the Club
to manage the Under 16 squad.
The successful Veterans football squad will once more
next season be managed by Fred Bint.
Wantage Town F.C. Chairman Tony Woodward stated:-
‘This 2008 / 2009 management announcement
confirms the steady progress that is being made within
the Club. Continuity, coupled with prudent development
and progressive improvement underpins the Club’s
ambition to advance to a higher level of football.
This, coupled with the development of grass roots
football in the area with the establishment of the
Grove and Wantage Community Charter Standard Partnership,
and the planned Facility Development at Alfredian
Park, promises much for the next couple of years for
football in the area. The acquisition of the former
St. Mary’s School playing field, and the developing
relationship with our neighbour King Alfreds School,
will see Wantage Town Football Club emerge as the
hub of football excellence in the area. There is much
to look forward at Wantage Town F.C. The recent award
of the F.A. Charter Standard to Wantage Town F.C.
is clear evidence of the advances being made.’
